Fog Light Exploded
I know of it happening to a lady that bought a 2013 Heritage. Both of her passing lamps blew out with in 300 miles. On my 2013 RK one of the passing light bulbs burned out before 200 miles but didn't blow out the lamp. "It did smoke up the lamp a bit" I didn't take any chances and changed both bulbs to 37.5 w long life bulbs. Now they're comming off and being replaced with TL LEDs along with the head lamp.

My 08 Road King had composite passing lights (replaceable bulbs) and all of the bikes I see on the sales floor look the same. Did you buy yours new or might a previous owner changed them? With their tendency to haze I have considered sealed beams to eliminate that problem.
Just like the gas station scene in the movie "The Jerk".
5 days later, my bike is now home.
The reason for the light explosion? Nobody seems to know. I got the shoulder shrug, and the "it's happened a few times before." When I asked if they did a diagnostic on the electrical, "yep, everything is fine..."
Fluke? I hope so. Time will tell.

Yeah, this is not an uncommon happening. I have heard of it occurring 6 or 8 times. Twice on new bikes. It is like so many other things going wrong on new machines. The dealer is "shocked...shocked I tell you" when you tell them it just exploded sitting in the garage. "We have never seen that happen before" is another one they are prone to use. "Well, we will get somebody out there first thing on Monday morning and we will bring it in and get to the bottom of it".
If you have a responsible dealer they will come and get it, fix it and not charge you for anything since you said it is a new bike. If not, they will come and get it, charge you $125.00 and tell you it is a "wear item".
