Ahhh yes the side buttons! Very good point TheGrandPoohBah! Never actually crossed my mind. The ridersclaw does look wicked clean but the ram is so versatile and half the money.
I have been using a ram mount with the ram mount aqua box for years. The box latches shut with the phone in it, is pretty water proof (been in torrential downpours and felt safe that the phone was dry) and you can still use the screen, although it is clumsy through the rubber cover.
This is my old setup on my KLR, two of the boxes side by side, one with an ipod and one with my phone hookups, attached to another box that held a J&M audio system. I have since gone all wireless with bluetooth stuff. The boxes are still great and even though it is ugly and big, I run the power cord down to the 12v charger on my fairing and the jack to the radio so I can play pandora or music I have saved on my phone
Works great with just about any size phone or gps. Can adjust at any angle and doesn't mar my bars. I like being able to remove the phone with just a squeeze and take with me.
I noticed that you have a SG. So do I. I prefer having my cell phone mounted dead center on the console, so I went with a mounting system from Iron Aces Speed Shop (http://www.ironacesspeedshop.com/pro...-gps-mount.cfm).
I bought the option that comes with the X-Grip from RAM. This combination gives me the flexibility of mounting any size phone/GPS (with or without protective cases), and I only need to glance down at the screen instead of taking my eyes off the road. I commute to work everyday on my SG, and the traffic in Silicon Valley can get hairy during rush hours; when I ride to new stores/locations I've never been to before, I use the GPS on my iPhone and I can still keep an eye out in traffic for cagers' actions and behaviors. I've had handlebar mounted setups before, but I prefer a center-mount setup.
I'm in Cabo right now,so I don't have pictures of my set up to post. Perhaps when I return home I'll snap some pics and upload them for ya.
