I'm riding to Fl from Ma in mid October. I'll be going along I-84 and I-81. I know the weather is cool thru the high elevations. I bought a heated vest last Spring so I'll be using that. I have heated grips on the bike and used them last fall around here but never on a long trip.
So my question is: Should I buy heated gloves for the trip? Or are the heated grips adequate?
If temps dip below 40* id have gloves as well. I use my heated bars for anything below 60* down to 45* then the heated gloves go on after that but everybody's tolerance is different. Also depends if you have a windshield or faring. I have neither.
I have both a windshield and fairing. The normal early morning temps at that time of year is in the low 40s. I guess I'll start looking for heated gloves and a dual controller.
Heated grips and a light pair of gloves is all I ever need in the coldest of conditions.
A heavier pair is less likely to let the heat in, more difficult to drive with, and just not necessary.
I've road in temps just below freezing with my heated grips and light gloves. I was just fine but I was raised in South Dakota so someone from a warmer climate may want more.
Heated grips are nice, heated gloves are way better.......I am on my 4th set of heated HD grips, I think the first 3 were the same style - ironside I think but they didn't make those anymore on my last annual replacement (yea ESP) so what ever they put on the limiteds is what I have now and they made it all winter last year.

When you have to start paying look into Heat Demons. Way better track record and you can use any grip you like.

Gerbing makes great heated gloves & has a lifetime warranty which I have used & was extremely happy with the company.
