I made the decision to buy a Road King Classic and went on a test drive today. Everything was great expect the shifter. I have a size 13 foot and it just to big for it. I had the dealer remove the heal shifter and that was okay, but still felt a little cramped in using it.
The dealer stated there are replacement shifters that increase the distancefrom the toe to the heal about an inch and extend the toe peg out, but he didnot have one for me to try.
I want to retain the toe/heel shifting capability, so does anyone have a recommendation on one that my solve my problem?
I wear a size 13 and the stock toe shifter works great for me. I removed the heel part, and the toe shifter is mounted on the inner most part of the shaft. Raise it up some, and it fits the bill just fine. I spent a hundred thousand + hours on a dirt bike so this feel perfectly normal to me. Never saw the need to shift with my heel.
Billet Style Heel/Toe Shift Lever - Extended Reach
Stretch out in style. Both the heel and toe sections of this Shift Lever are 1" longer than traditional levers, separating the distance between the heel/toe shift by 2" total. This added space provides a comfortable riding position for a tall rider, and allows a rider with a large boot extra room to move. Styled to complement our billet style mirror stems, these Billet Style Shift Levers are forged, machined and polished for a beautiful, custom look. When combined with the available Extended Reach Brake Lever, the long-limbed rider can straighten their legs and ride in comfort. Kit includes a front and rear lever and mounting hardware.

What I did was to take the shifter peg off, leave the shift arm in place. Simply turn your heel in slightly to shift, it's been working great for me for over 60,000 miles on two different bikes. As an added bonus, this modification costs $0.00 to do.
Several of my buddies have followed suite, one w/ a size 15 shoe. You are able to move your foot back and forth on the footboard as needed for comfort

Am also a size 13, prior bikes were either sport bikes or HD with forward controls .. got the RKC and have just 'worked with it' for a time and now find it is not a problem at all and actually like the heel shift for upshifts ... you may want to try just using it for a while, I found I was able to adjust to it and now like it.
I like a heel shifter and with the HD 1" forward floorboards, harley goodies 1" out extentions and extended levers, I was able to get my heel shifter way down & behind the floorboard. Works great for my size 12.5!
