Default handle bar adjustments

12 streetglide and i need to move the handle bars up a little. anyone know what size allen or torx i need and can you get to the two bottom clamp bolts by just removing the fairing cap? i sure don't want to go through removing the outer fairing and radio if i can help it. don't mind grinding an allen or torx down to get to it if i have to.

Don't know the size on the bolts but you can pull the tank, ignition and fairing cap which will gain you access to the rear bolts.

You sure don't have to pull the tank. You already know what you have to do (according to my manual). Take the ignition out and fairing cap off (2 screws). Then you can get to the 2 clamp bolts to loosen and move the bars. I'm not sure of the allen size but i know others have done this lots of times on here.

I have to do the same to mine at some point as well.

+1 T_dogg80...... Easy as can be...... Hey dude, just put a rag I between your wrench and the fairing, it'll keep you from scoring up the inner fairing plastic.

ok, i adjusted my handlebars today and what a pain in the ***.what is harley thinking when they do stupid **** like this? fairing off, radio out, when they could of just put hex or even allen bolts in the bottom bolt holes. then you could just take off the fairing cap to adjust the bars. this is retarded enginering. everyone don't like where the factory sets the bars at. really stupid! oh yea,it's a t-40 torx.i tried grinding down a bit and put a wench on it but the bolts were way to tight,so had to take the other route and remove outer fairing and radio and other dumb crap just to move the bars.
