I've been doing long trips for years and have learned no matter how you pack you either took to much or not enough.

I roll up all my clothsand putthem a Zip-lock bagto use as thenext days riding wear. I put underwear, socks and t-shirt in the bag andI use a rubber band to keep the items very tight. Then the next day I just roll up the dirty stuff and stuff it into the same plastic bag. I use the bags with the zipper closure as they seem to hold better and are quicker to open and close. I always assign the lower saddle bag, the one on the kickstand side, to hold the tools and service stuff. I carry a very small 12 volt air compressor also in this bag. Never needed it but it's along just in case.

Good luck and happy packing...[:@]

Well, if you travel like some folks on this forum do, you should be able to get most of what you want to take along in the bed of the pickup truck. Any excess stuff can be loaded into travel trunks and strapped to the trailer around the bike.

Each person gets one saddlebag for clothes, footwear and douche kit. Pack two days of clothes. Roll each day's wardrobe separately in a pair of jeans - long sleeve T-shirt, socks and skivvies. Pack them into a plastic grocery bag. Put them, the douche kitand a pair of sandals and sneakers in a plastic trash can liner for weather protection and easy carry into the motel. Not enough room? Jettison one pair of jeans since you can easily get more than one day's use in good weather.

Put the road atlas, rain gear, camera, cell phoneand lightjackets in the tour pak. Stuff four to six extra plastic grocerybags in thepak. They're are good for laundry and aredandy for keeping your feet dry whenwornbetweenyour socks and "waterproof"boots.

Do laundry every three to four days.

Happy trails.

I bring along old underwear and socks and throw them away as I use them up. This helps save room on the trip as it goes on. Everyone here has good suggestions, but you will learn what you really need as you get more overnight road time. Also, those bags that hook on the tourpack luggage rack helps alot, you can stuff alot in there. Ziplock large bags work really good (t-shirt,socks, underwear) per person, per day. Just remember to keep it simple. Good luck

cold weather gear good long johns pack tighter than swetshirts/pants

socks buy em as you throw em away

undies... dont wear em.

rain gear and leathers can be rolled and bungied on the outside.

ups is your friend...

remember good chance youll buy t shirts throughout the trip...i only bring 2 or 3 , knowing ill be buying them daily

in the end it ids better to pack light and essentials... then buy what you need on the way....

My first road trip with the wife went like this...

I had her put everything she wanted to take on the bed. Told her to remove 3/4 of the load, then gave her a saddlebag liner, and said thats all the room you get. take what you want, as long as it fits in the liner bag, NOTHING else will go, so choose carefully, and if it didn't fit, then I would make the choices for her, and she would live with MY choices. Only her Leathers were not going in the bag.

She elliminated all the needless junk that most women want to carry, and actually still had space in the saddlebag after loading.

Since that day 3 years ago, she packs light, and always has what she needs.
