Well said!

I agree 100%!!!

There is nothing impressive about the Indian motorcycle.

I don't know about that - the price tag is pretty damn eye-opening!

Thumbs up I Like The Changes

2014 is turning out to be a banner year for lots of changes in the motorcycle market. As well as all of the changes that Harley recently announced, both Honda AND Indian have entered and / or expanded into the heavy touring market with reasonable price tags. I like all of these changes and look forward to seeing and maybe even trying out a few. I prefer not to beat up on any one brand in as much as watch and listen to those who give objective and reasonable criticism.

When I buy a car, truck or motorcycle I think about the dealer network. Harley & Honda being two of the big touring bike manufacturing companies have extensive dealer networks. They both also have a very good after market network for items Harley & Honda don’t have or carry. They even have t-shirts.

Indian, Victory and even BMW don’t have the kind of a network Harley and Honda have. If Indian stays around this time, they won’t have the dealer network for a long time. If you only stay around your home town, you’ll be fine with your local Indian or Victory dealer (or other bike maker).

I try to get out and ride when I can and don’t want to be looking for an Indian dealer in the middle of nowhere if something happens. Harley or Honda have so many dealers, you won’t have to look far in most cases. I’m sure you can get stuck without a dealer close because of all the dealers being closed by Mother Harley but you might find an independent shop that can do a quick repair or get a tow to a dealer that isn‘t as far away as any Indian or Victory dealer.

I know there are other brands out there and none of them have the dealer networks like Harley & Honda.

I'll be keeping my 2010 Ultra for many years.

Another advantage with Harley is that I know of no other motorcycle manufacturer that responds to customer feedback as fast as MOCO. I know some whine a lot a but some issues, but if we could list the issues most whined about on this forum in the last ten years, you would see 95% of the issues went away. Some of the issues my buddy has with his Gold Wing have been around since 2001.

I ride a harley, but I don't love it.
I have a prenup with every bike I own.

When I'm in the market for another bike, Indian will get a good look, so will Victory & BMW

This is one of the main reasons I have a 2013 Limited. When I was ready to buy I had my mind pretty much made up to get a Goldwing but there wasn't a Honda dealer within 150mi that had one I could even sit on let alone test ride. The local Harley dealer had a couple of limiteds for sale they would let me test ride.I might have liked the Gold wing better but I wasn't about to travel 150mi just to sit on one and then what if I needed warranty work on it after I bought it? This situation has recently been rectified by the Harley dealer buying out a local Honda franchise but I'm still happy I got my Electraglide.

I have always loved the nostalgic look of the Indians .......

There aren't any Lotus dealers close to me either,......but if I had the money , I'd buy one !!!

If the outer fairing were a little more attractive on the new Indians, I might be a buyer. I'd trade my Ultra for the right Indian , ...in a heart beat.
