I bought my 12 SG a little over a year ago and have almost 7k on it, how many miles on average can these things be ridden before it needs motor work or brakes or even a clutch (providing proper use). Hell my tires even still look new.
I traded my bike with almost 150k on it. No motor work at all, even stock clutch. The only thing I replaced was cam tensioners. They looked great till over 70k.
If you maintain it well you'll hit 100k without even blinking. A few things like tires, brakes, drive belt, battery, will be replaced but nothing major at all unless you ride it really hard or just have bad luck.
My bike has 97,000 on it and the motor and trans are all original. Clutch also. Drive belt ditto. Replaced the starter around 70k and the compensator (a problem item in certain year ranges) twice under warranty.
Otherwise this bike has run like a champ and there's no end in sight. I look forward to turning 200,000 miles some day...

Gotta ask Rob, what was your maintenance routines, by the book with dealership oils or what you used etc?

yea i do tend to get after it frequently, about 6 out of 10 lights i enjoy 103"s of fun, i run redline oil tho synthetic i take it to skunk motorsports in mesa for all my services. what about heat here in az tho, i got stuck in traffic a few times on hot days, 110+ and it wasnt long before it seemed really hot, i have a PV on it so the stock EITM dosent work.
