The local dealer says the duration on the new 103 cam is pretty much the same as the SE255. If thats the case, why not just go with the 255 cam rather than a new one?
Because if they told you it was the exact same as the 255. then you would rightfully conclude that you would get the same performance by just putting a 255 in your current bike.
If you keep your old bike then they aren't selling you a new one.

Plus it eliminates a legal issue in explaining why the 2014 needed it but the 2013 did not. same as the new (again) improved compensator. They are fixing things after the fact but cannot find themselves in a legal bind by admitting there was a problem
According to the sales manger at ******* Mi Harley, he said the new HO 103 cam is a lot like the 255 with a little 204 mixed in for better passing power.
So then it would make sense to label it and make it available. I would consider it.
Why? It would still be a EPA cam and top dollar with the HD logo on it....Better and possibly cheaper cams are available that can be tuned a lot better then the HD ones.....
The Motor Company is expert at making you think you need something from them when in most cases better products and performance is available from aftermarket companies.
Why now after years of the 103 being introduced is the new improved cammed up version so much better?
Couldn't these idiots over there have put a better cam profile in these anemic 103's from the start?
Oh wait ... These have liquid cooled exhaust valve ports.
I guess we should all order new heads?
