I have a 2014 twin cooled motor, the bike was delivered with the EITMS system turned off, should I consider turning it on? I really don't have a issue with heat, this bike runs cooler than my previous 2007 Harley did, especially considering the 2014 is new.
My RK its a very seamless transition, i see no difference on take off from either condition.
My '14 Limited switches from EITMS to regular mode very smoothly...and so did my '11 Limited. I have noticed that it kicks in much sooner/more often than my '11 did. But, I don't mind it because I understand what it's doing and to me it's not a problem to have it switch off the rear cylinder. There's always the option of disabling the system or re-enabling it at will.
There seems to be a few people connecting the EITMS system with the cooling system but they are independent systems.
This from HD - TT430: TWIN-COOLED SYSTEM DIAGNOSTICS dated 27 September 2013;
Note that EITMS (rear cylinder cut-out) uses ambient air temperature monitored by the sensor on the left side of the steering head) to activate and deactivate at air temperatures above 80 °F (27 °C). EITMS is completely independent from cooling system operation.
The EITMS is active on my bike and when it kicks in it does sound different. I first noticed it a few weeks ago as I was sitting in traffic on a hot day, took me a minute or two to figure out what was going on. It's forecast to be 43 (110) degrees today so I think I'll leave mine active.
I'm assuming it can still be turned off like the older model bikes, yes? To me, if the bike still needs it (I found it basically does nothing on mine), then water cooling the heads is a moot point.
i think you may have got some bad poop. outside air temp should have nothing to do with it, cylinder head temp does. i'm not saying you're wrong, but i would have to see the spec on this. how does the ecm know outside air temp anyway?
No he didn't get some bad poop. TT430 states on last page:"Note EITMS (rear cylinder cut-out) uses ambient air temperature (monitored by the sensor on the left side of the steering head) to activate and deactivate at air temperatures above 80 degrees F (27 Degrees C). EITMS is completely independent from cooling system operation.
