I have an 03 Ultra. When I take off the last part of letting the clutch out chatters. It does not do this in any other gear other than 1st. Clutch seems fine after 1st gear. The only way to not have the chatter, is to ride the clutch all the way out. It does not seem to slip, just chatter on the last part of full realease. Could this just be the spring? The clutch only has 12,000 on it (BIKE). Thanks for any help in advance.
Ultralarry
I have an 03 flhrci with the same problem, it seems to do it more when riding 2 up and the dealer told me this was normal. A friend who has an 01 wide glide sayes his does the same thing too. Good Luck and ride safe
I have ultra classic with same chatter you guys describe only taking off 1st gear dealer service man said it was normal but my wife's dyna does not do it at all .I guess my question is has anybody figure out what to do or just don't worry about it
Mine does it and I have read that it could be not giving it enough throttle when letting the clutch out, allowing the compensator to make noise. When I give it a little more throttle on take off, it doesn't do it.
I have the same issue with my '12 TriGlide. Does it after it heats up. Was running Syn3, then BelRay, now Formula+... And they all do it. Took it to the dealer, and they Celine's they couldn't replicate it.
I'm thinking about taking the clutch apart, and seeing if anything obvious...like glazed surfaces. Then put in screaming eagle Spring.
If fluid does not change it, then it most likely is glazed friction discs, probably from slipping the clutch too much or out of adjustment and it slipping. May need new discs and if the steel discs are discolored then those need replaced also.
