Default Advice needed please....new suspension or not

So I have been thinking about doing a suspension upgrade...but I'm not really sure why yet.

I've bottomed out a coupe times, but just today added more air to the shocks. That seemed to help after a 30min test ride.

Thing is I am about to put on the front chrome lowers and thought that would be the perfect time to do the upgrade if I'd do it. I don't ride it hard at all and don't plan to to be honest. I'm a pretty conservative rider I think. It's is my first bike.

I've read on here how others have loved the upgrade. I've been looking at the Progressive kit with the 944's and Monotubes. I believe it can be had on fleabay
for $780. Or $950 the added touring link stabilizer. Is it needed?

Looking to hear what others have to say on the matter. Keeping in mind my bike is a 2010 Limited.

Thanks

Same issue for me on a 2012 Ultra Classic. The roads in the UK are really bad and I ride a lot 2 up and the standard suspension struggles at best. I run 50psi in the shocks and it regularly bottoms out. The progressive suspension upgrades over here are in excess of Ł1000 or $1500!

I have the monotubes, 944's and True Track on my Limited.

Bike handles much better and is generally more stable at all speeds.

I do ride aggressively at times, especially in the twisties, it made a huge differance overall.

Also added the new Metzeler ME-888's, bike is more stable on bad roads, bridges, aggresive turns, etc.

Progressive Monotubes will transform your front end. Rides better, handles better, and virtually eliminates brake dive.

Your 2010 shouldn't need the touring link stabilizer. the post '09 swingarm is stiff enough so that the benefits of any sort of brace would be minimal.

As for the rear shocks, my only experience was with the Ohlins 3/3. And as soon as I can gather funds, those will be on my 2014 Street Glide, along with the Monotubes. You will not believe it's the same bike. The best comparison I can make is what you have now is a buckboard wagon...you've got some suspension but it ain't doing much for ride comfort or control. With the Ohlins/Monotubes you have a BMW sports sedan. It rides well and it handles well allowing you to be in control in virtually circumstance.

Appreciate the info. Did you go with the lowered monotubes or standard?

went with the lowered. Lowered the front and rode/handled better to boot.

So I'm guessing the lowered version would go better with the 944's seeing how they are 12"?

Sorry, I'm new to this suspension stuff.

I have Progressive monotubes up front, night and say difference from stock. I like Progressive, but I had to go with JRIs in the rear, for about the same price (with forum discount) the JRIs are superior to the 944's in quality and performance.

I was out on the limb about adding shocks as well, Until I added JRI's. The ride is much improved, planted & controlled. My back doesn't hurt after long trips like it did with the oem bags and the bike handles much better.

Id do it again!

I would go with the 944's and mono-tubes - or some other kind of shocks to replace the stocks (Ohlin's, etc). For a 2010 the stabilizer link is not necessary IMO.
