I know I saw a thread not to long ago on this but I can't seem to find it. I wanna put a set of rims on but for the price I'm thinking just the front. What's your opinion on doing just a front rim on a bagger? I also plan on doing extended bags in the future, not road scraping low but maybe CVO style.
Back "in the day" it was common to see a front wheel different from the rear ... and with the bags on most couldn't tell if they were different or not ... I say go for it.
There are many who will say do both or don't bother with it, I say do whatever the hell you want, it's your bike. I don't get really why folks even ask these questions.
Many of our customers get only the front wheel. Some call back right after they get the front put on and order the rear, some do not. Personally, I prefer matching wheels but I see no problem in doing one at a time to see how you feel about it.
Another option if you are getting chrome is to pick up a chromed stock wheel for the rear or a black powder coated rim if you get black wheels. My bike has 4" stretched bags and matching wheels. 13" shocks. You can see enough of teh rear wheel that it would really bother me to not have a matching rear but when I had the air ride on the rear it was less of an issue.
My advice if you are asking this question is get the front for now and put it on and take it from there. I know I always make killer deals for people even if they buy the wheels one at a time.
I say go for it. If it turns out that the rear wheel sticks out like a sore thumb, then always approach your bike from the jiffy stand side and you'll never notice it...LOL.
In the end, the only opinion that matters is yours.
I have matching rims & wheels. I knew that if I didn't get the matching rear at the same time that it would be on sooner or later. Fortunately for me, I got a helluva package deal on the rims & wheels so it was a no brainer.
I put a custom wheel on the front of my sg and put a chrome stock wheel on the back all you can see is a little bit of the chrome.if your going to extended bags just leave the stock wheel back there nobody will notice the difference and if they do tell em to kiss your ***
fat daddy that is a hell of an idea that didn't cross my mind. Not the kiss my *** part hahaha but getting a chrome stock exchange wheel for $300 maybe give or take
