yes, a connected header will make more power, esp at low revs.
every v8 in every driveway has the 2 banks of cylinders connected by an X pipe by the transmission.
the PD's are ok, easy way to loose the cat for those who are not "handy".
common complaint with the PD's is that the cover on the X pipe can hit very hard on right turns- esp if the bike is lowered, esp if the suspension compresses at the apex
also the clamp on the crossover has to be installed so that excess threaded rod can't catch up on a speed bump
mike
so what would you recommend, pd's or stock with removed cat and slip ons?
I have the Power Duals on my SG and haven't had any scraping issues but then I only racked up about 500 miles on it before departing the country again )-: They sounded real good with the bigrounds. Had them installed prior to picking up the bike along with a SE intake and Cam.
Right as we got in the process of to finalizing the deal I did decide to go with the Fuel Moto pipes as performance wise I think they would have the edge and no reported dragging issues. However the dealer didn't have FuelMotos setup as a supplier and while they were willing to do this it would have delayed my pickup of the bike when I only had a couple of weeks at home. Stuck with the PowerDuals, and at least for now, I am very happy with them.
I have true duals, my buddy has power duals....whatever you like. I don't get into the ...'you lose torque' stuff. I know that it's true, but its not that serious to me...mine rides great and the guys with power duals aren't pulling away from me like I lost half of my torque or anything.
FWIW My dyno guy will not even entertain true duals. Says they loose enough power, torque and mileage that he stopped putting them on. Claims the torque on the low end is the big loss. Something we need with the heavy bikes.
I know there is some loss of power and torque to true duals but perhaps you should look for another tuner. I'm getting tons of torque out of mine and still get about 38 MPG around town and 42-45 MPG on the open road.

Thats because Rineharts stepped header duals perform wonderful. Most other companies true dual setups doesn't have stepped headers, and suffer a little tq lost.
