So I was riding home from Milwaukee going down I-65 when my cruise randomly cuts out. I set it again and same thing happened. Went to reset it and had to hold the set button for a good 5 seconds before it would kick-in. After that, it just crapped out completely and the check engine light came on.
I stopped at a gas station and gave the bike a break. 20 minutes later, got back on the interstate and the cruise still wouldn't work. Check engine light came on right away too. Stopped again, shut off the bike, restarted, got back on the road. Check engine light again, this time without attempting to turn the cruise on.
I get the bike home and let it sit. Today, take it to work and no issues. Cruise works fine. No check engine light.
Anyone ever had this happen or know what it could be?
Yeah, I tried to get the codes the night I got home. The set/resume switch wasn't doing anything at all so I couldn't get any. Maybe now that it's working again I can get the codes.
Could be your cruise module, had to change mine about $265 easy do it yourself change out.
Depends on what year the bike is...2008 and up the cruise is managed through the ECM...The cruise modules are getting hard to get as they are obsolete in the H-D books now

Thanks for the update didn't know that, but mine a 07 is almost a classic! I'll check on the availability on the module tomorrow, my first day in the parts department at the local Harley dealership. I will defiantly upgrade to a 14 Limited with employee pricing
