Default Made The Jump Back To Two Wheels

Well after a couple weeks with my new bike I'm happier than I ever thought I would be on a bike, a few might remember my "experience" back last August on my way to Sturgis, long story short, I was on a Nighttrain doing 80-85mph when a little old lady stopped and backed up in the fast lane right in front of me, I never had a chance to hit the brakes and ate the *** end of her Nissan at full speed, leg broken in 7 places, heel pad torn off, forehead wide open, heart stopped in the ambulance from loss of most of my blood supply, a month in the hospital, was told I might lose my leg, then I'd keep it but maybe not walk again, wouldn't be able to ride again etc....So I bought a 2012 Triglide a couple weeks after I got home from the hospital while still in a wheelchair, started riding the trike in May, never really fell in love with her and traded it about 3 weeks ago with 1400 miles on it for a shiny new Candy Orange 2013 Road Glide Custom, they made me a SWEET deal (Full stage 1, Rinehart pipes, cash back, lifetime discount on parts etc) After a couple hundred miles I couldn't be any happier! Here's the new girl...

Beautiful bike! Miss my Roadie...

Really glad to hear you're doing ok. Sounds like one hell of an accident.

Be safe.

Thanks guys, here's the original post with the details of the accident if anyone's curious, since then in talking with my brother and the other guys we were with, we were doing 80-85mph rather than the 70 I thought...Not that the result at 70 would've been any different LOL

Great looking ride! Glad to hear you have recovered enough to get back on 2 wheels.

As you know, I have a TG because of a similar incident on the interstate over 3 years ago. I still can't hold up a touring bike because of the permanent damage. But I can hold up a Softail and Sportster.

So for 2-up touring, I am on the Tri-Glide, but as you discovered, it is a different kind of fun than 2 wheels.

Its different but I'm not knocking it, I just wasn't "in love" with it like I am a 2 wheeler, for the money invested I felt I needed to love it, I will say if the arthritis from my accident gets too bad or god forbid I have another or something else happens that causes me to not be able to pick up or handle a bike confidently, I'd buy another trike in a heartbeat, I did love it on the highway at speed, just not on back roads, around town etc...

Awesome bike, grats. I can sort of relate, had to trade off my Fat Bob and my Dad's Sportster for a Tri Glide this summer after he wrecked the sportster and decided his two wheel days were over. Knowing he couldn't finance a trike without getting a horrible deal I did it for him figuring I'd ride it till next spring when he was ready. Loved the comfort of the trike, but very much missed my two wheel. Sort of surprisingly (I know where I learned how to be stubborn from) he decided he was ready sooner than I expected and he helped me get a 2013 Street Glide a few weeks back and now the trike is his ride. Trike's are super nice and still have that in the wind feel but it's hard to give up your love for two wheel.

Stay safe, keep the shiny side up and hope you get many miles of enjoyment out of it.

I had my wreck in 1966, didn't ride again until 2004. Finally decided to give it a try and haven't gotten off since.
