Whatever you get, try on the pants and actually sit on a bike. My first pair fit great just standing around, but when sitting on the bike they were way too short.
I have an Xelement 2-piece suit that works pretty well except the legs are a bit short. If i dont use the boot gaiters, my jeans stick out the bottom and wick up the water up my legs. Other than that, it's way cheaper and keeps me dry... Get the boot covers.
I had a H-D rain suit but it developed a leak in the crotch. It was on the inside liner and was very hard to find. Looked like I pissed my pants every time it rained. I ended up putting electrical tape on the rip. I gave them to my buddy. Now he gets wet pants.
The repair worked until I bought a set of Frogg Toggs and they haven't let me down yet. Ive been in some very heavy rain storms for many miles.
The last was about 300 miles of heavy rain going up to Detroit.
I gambled on the rain today and I lost, 80 miles from home. It wasn't a light drizzle either. It's time for another purchase. Looking for something small obviously so I can just leave it in the saddlebag. What are you guys using? Best bang for your buck set? Ride safe!
TourMaster Elite one-piece... As low as $71.99 (if you shop around)...
+1 on the hi-vis rain gear from HD with the boot covers. They work awesome and keep you dry. Worth every penny!
Another vote for the Harley Hi-Vis suit....got caught in my first serious rain in them the other day and was bone dry when I got home 45 minutes later.
The bright colors aren't the coolest looking in the store/online...but 9:00 at night on the interstate in the rain I was very happy to have the added piece of mind that I wasn't in all black.
side note - I don't have gators, but wow was I impressed with the lower fairings on my king. After 45 minutes of mostly 50-65mph driving in the rain, my cloth slip-on shoes were about 75% dry on the outside (judged by discoloration).
I have two sets of Tourmaster rain gear. Hads down the best rain gear ever. Problem is all that quality makes it large. I leave those in the saddlebags at all times, for just in case. When touring and space is an issue, I have a couple sets (for my wife and I) of HD rain gear. It is good, but much smaller to pack on the bike.
