Default 2014 Touring Models- Stock?

I've got the fever like most of us did when I went to my local dealer. I think I could be happy with any of the 2014 touring models but maybe leaning toward a SGS. I've had several bikes in the past (most recent 2011 RGC) and always wanted to modify the exhaust, etc. My question is for those of you who have bought the new 2014s and left them stock, are you happy with the setup right off the floor after putting some miles on them? I know it's personal preference and how much money you want to invest on performance/sound, etc., but I'd like to minimize all the after market purchases and be content with the stock setup at least for the first year or so. Just curious what you guys think about leaving them stock. I hope to demo a couple in the next few weeks so I can see myself. Thanks and appreciate any feedback.

I bought a 2014 Ultra Limited; it's the first of 11 new Harley's that I am happy with right out of the box. I might put on a set of Harley Touring slip-ons, but it runs great stock. They really covered the bases stock, all the rest is up to you when you choose. The stock exhaust is really not bad either. Good luck

Had stage 1 on previous 3 Harleys.

Just put pipes on this one for sound (V&H monster squared)

Very happy with stock, no plans for Stage 1 (surprised the wife too)

Sound is going to be subjective. One person's "perfect" is another's "too loud".
I would say check it out stock and see what you think. If it's not loud enough put some slip-on mufflers on it and check that out. Some people are satisfied with that. If that doesn't cut it then you can still use the same mufflers but then your talking intake, stage 1 tuner and either a different head pipe w/o a cat or gut yours (there is a ton of threads on here about both). I have heard talk that the 14's have a little better sound to them right out the crate.

Plan to get rid of the cat, mostly because of the heat. May do a Fullsac core replacement on stock pipes, more for S&G than anything else. I kinda dig the mellow sound of the stock pipes.
I LIKE the stock seat, but bought a Sundowner for when the OL rides along.
Gonna give the stock suspension a few thousand miles, but miss my monotubes already.
Probably add a K&N filter element because I like 'em. That will likely mean a Micro tuner.
And that's about it. I plan to ride it as is for a while and will be happy to do so.

Bought the 2014 SGS and added Vance & Hines slip-ons (to quiet stock, IMO) and a backrest out of necessity (bad back). Don't plan on adding much more, in that the bike is awesome stock. Back rest is removable...

Concur, the seat sucks! I'm thinking Mustang seat, in my case, with a detachable backrest...

Did you replace the headers or just black your heat shields out?

I like mine stock...so far. This is my 8th new Harley in 20 years, and the first that I didn't want to immediately put slip-ons on it. I like the tone of the stock exhaust. Nice low end. Yes, it's quieter than the Rineharts I had on my 10 Limited, but after 5 or 600 miles, the louder exhaust got a bit fatiguing...even while wearing an ultra-quiet Schuberth helmet.

Also, after 1200 miles, the performance is good...a little more pull than my 10, and a great feeling front end. I do miss my Progressive rears and monotubes...may look into that later.

Think I'm keeping it stock.
