That's an even more ridiculous comment. You don't even know these people and you already know they are Weekend Warriors, amazing. I think I'm reading into it exactly what it is.
OK, clean cut, no facial hair, no ink, wearing shorts, and the latest Harley shirts, and loafers. And I don't say this as a demeaning comment. Riding a motorcycle is whatever you want it to be. Ride naked if you like. I'm done trying to explain a simple comment. If that's all you got out of the story I wrote, that's pretty pathetic.
I was going to ride my Rk and it was a tad dirty with a bit of Grime and a few bugs...I rode to town and stopped at Gas Station. Some one I knew stopped and commented on the Harley. His wife says " its so clean" I thought I guess I clean it to much people don't notice except the rider!
Hap
My buddy has the same bike. He's a big dude and lugs the hell out of it. He has more money than sense. He's destroyed the engine in it three times. Fortunately he keeps the extended warranty thing current and he just has them keep fixing it. Has something like 80K on it (three engines).
Point is... he refuses to even consider trading it or even put a 6 speed in it.
Gotta love it when people are taken aback by an "older" bike.... as if '06 is that old. I have an '05, she's not really that pretty, I'm not the best at visual upkeep. However, it's funny, a lot of people don't believe it's an '05. Makes you realize there may be a reason (until this year at least) why HD hasn't ever really messed with overall design over so many years.
Beautiful bike.... I'd have been walking around admiring it as well.
Your bike is very cool ,, I can see why to people with not that much experience it would look very customized. I will be 54 this winter and still prefer the look of the older bikes, I guess thats why the newest one i own is a 2001 ultra.
Very nice. It's a great feeling when someone gives compliments on our pride and joy.
I don't consider my 06 to anywhere close to being old but I've had people think it was a new bike. The ones that I get a kick out of are the guys that walk up and try to show off their Harley knowledge. Or lack thereof...lol. I've had people who argued with me that my bike is a Dyna and not a Deuce. Not to mention a couple that said it was a Sportster. Had one guy tell me that he used to sell Harleys' 'a couple of years ago' and didn't know that they stopped making the Deuce in '07.
I actually love it when that happens. And it's pretty rare when I'm out and about that at least 1 (somebody) doesn't walk up and make the same kind of comments to me. That's part of why I find it so difficult to trade it in or sell it. If you take care of your baby, your baby will take care of YOU.
