new to hd forum..1st post..installing tour pak on 2013 road glide custom, does not come with reinforcement plate, not sure what to use, thickness, steel, stainless?, thanks
I take it you are not using a stock tour pack? If you are using a stocker what the hell happens to plate?Anyway you just go to Local big box hardware store and get a large steel plate.Galvanised would be nice but not needed. Also doesnt have to be real thick as the strength of the whole plate is distributed amongst bottom of pack.
The plate serves 2 purposes. 1.Give strenght to bottom of pack and 2. Allowes you to run speaker, light and antenna wires under it so they are protected.Plate also acts as a gound for antenna and lights.
You might check to see if anyone here has a damaged tour pack and wants to get rid of plate though with shipping you might just make one... Good Luck.. :-) Tim.
The MoCo makes a "quick tatch" mounting system that goes for $500 plus or minus, and is worth it if you plan to remove-reinstall the tour pack with any kind of frequency.
