2014 Limited Cooling Question - Why Regular Coolant?
It has never leaked any coolant, and the fans do run for 15 to 30 seconds after shutdown after a hot run. Fantastic bike, no complaints, so far, my Best HD ever.
My question is, Why the hell do they use regular coolant for such a hot and limited application? Why don't we run Evans Waterless coolant in them?
The system pressure would be near zero, it won't cavitate, won't corrode, compatible with all metals, won't boil, pretty much can't boil over, won't freeze, your cat can drink it and won't die, and it never needs to be changed?
DEX coolant boils at 265F at sea level with 15PSI pressure on it, the Evans NPG+ boils at 350F at Sea Level with ZERO pressure in the system. It CANT boil over, period.
Sure its $40 a gallon, but for only a couple pints of fluid, am I (or HD!) missing something here???
No I do not work for them, I am an engineer, I will be looking into this more, I think someone missed the bus to work at HD.

but picture this.... HD's solution is to recall and refill with this and then relabel it at $70. a gallon and specify the specs(for aftermarket) and a yearly change interval or warranty void. then more owners will complain.
As long as it meets or exceeds HD's specs, they can't tell you what brand of fluid to run, unless they want to provide it for free. They also cannot void your warranty for running a Non-HD brand as long as it meets or exceeds their specs. It's a federal law, read up on it.
That said, I would save all receipts to prove what I did and what I used in case there is a warranty issue and they try to deny the claim.
