Default Crap on pipe, How do I get it off??

I have been accumalating something that I feel is rubber from the belt, on my left side pipe, from the bottom bend, to just before it enters the muffler. I first noticed it on my stock system when I took it home from dealer (I replace the stock system before I took delivery). The bike only had a few miles from my demo rideand the dyno, but yet the pipe was covered with what I think is rubber from the belt. I tried to clean off using kerosene which usually remove tar etc. very well. It didn't penetrate this stuff at all. I packed the pipes away and forgot about them. Cleaning the bike shortly after reveled a build up of "rubber?" again. I detailed the bike last night in prep for some soon to come riding time, and the rubber is very heavy on the pipe in that one section. None on the muffler, but a ton of it just before it enters the muffler. Is this from the belt?

Anybody else have this problem? What will take it off? I've tried several chrome cleaners, kerosene, and my next step is oven cleaner. Any ideas?
Thanks!

really tough stuff can be removed using EZ-Off oven cleaner. Heat the pipes and use a file folder to keep over spray off other areas as you spray. Let pipes cool and wipe with a damp towel or wash. finish up with either Never Dull or S100 Polish Soap.

I had a rain suit melt on mine on a trip last year. By the end of the trip 1500 miles later it had dissapeared. I guess what I am saying is take it out on a long hot ride and maybe it to will dissapear.

may sound strange, but get it down thin with
a razor blade, then take steel wool, yes I said steel wool.
rub lightly until it comes off. No it will not scratch your chrome.
you just can't be real heavy on it. It works, I even use it
on tough bugs. Try it on your truck bumper if you think it works.

This might seem obvious, but I'd be checking my belt alignment.

That was what I was thinking when I first started reading this too. I have not read any other posts where someone had this probelm.
