I run all 12 of my bikes from the 1200cc to the 110 CVO and never an issue or ping. The problem is they all get more power and higher mpg. 50 mpg for the 12 RGC CVO and 52 mpg for the 12 RGC 103.

The darn 12 VRod only gets 44 mpg.

One slight note: they all run a proper 12.8 to 1 afr.

I get better mpg now that I switched from 91 to 87. Never go below 87 though.

I got a laugh out of all the responses in this thread..
I was on a road trip recently from Newport Beach So Cal, to Monterey Ca to watch the Moto GP, got to San Luis Obispo and my SG was sucking fumes. Went to the Chevron there and they were out of 91 octane, so I had to run 87 under duress...
I can speak from experience, I wasn't happy but that's life.
Absolutely zero issue, no noticeable difference in performance at hwy speeds, next tank I made sure it was 91 octane, and good to go.
I concur with a previous thread, go on a 250 mile ride and refill!!
"keep it upright!"

12.8 afr on 87 octane gas and getting 50+ mpg.......... very interesting, but ridicules.

Just a thought: Not many vehicles running 93 octane and we know that corn fuel separates from sitting , so how good is the higher octane anyway? I run 87 octane and a booster but I'm **** anyway.

At least you didn't pump diesel like Neil Peart (drummer, rock band RUSH). He was doing a continental ride and it was a real "d'oh!" moment.

Not a big deal. You will hear some ping here and there but it will go away with a new tank of gas.
