I picked up a pair of Stone Lake Bib Overalls off of my local Craigs List. That's the heavy lined ones. I went to Renegades Classics and had a set made of light weight goat leather that I wear a lot. They will even make them in perforated but that gets expensive.
I recommend the Stone Lake ones for winter time use. Excellent product. I just got lucky and got a pair that fit me locally from a guy moving to Florida.
Bibs never crossed my mind. Ill look into them. Before heated gear I usta use Carhartt artic overalls but had no way to stow them after work and usually cooked going home.
I rode to work pretty much all winter, when the roads were decent. I have the Gerbing jacket and gloves with the dual controller. This, with heated grips, my leather chaps and my Double H leather boots allowed me to ride down to 18 deg. For granted I only ride 22 miles one way to work. I would definitely recommend the Gerbings.
I've got an electric vest and have had it for years. Great tool when needed. That new Gerbing stuff is great from what I've read. I just have a hard time buying new stuff when the old still works. Kind of like my bike.
I've had Gerbing and Widder from years ago. They worked well, for what they were. Today, I would not buy either. I'd rather go with something like RapidFIRe. It produces more heat, over more surface, and integrates nicely without wires going everywhere. I've sat there side by side with them at booths in the cold, the infrared systems like RapidFIRe were substantially warmer and more controllable than the hot wire systems like Gerbing and Widder.
Plus one on the stone lake bibs. Excellent quality. I'm going with Powerlet when I get the scratch for heated gear...although no doubt the Gerber stuff rocks.

Do the bibs have buttons all the way up the side of the legs or are they zippers. How good is the insulation ?
Bottom line with the Girbings is that you don't have to lug all of that heavy gear. Light thin jacket over the liner and I don't even put anything over the pants and ride way into the teens. Best money I ever spent. But that 1000.00 price tag sounds a little high. 200.00 jacket liner, 199.00 for pants, 149.00 for gloves, 99.00 for dual controller, 99.00 for sock liners if you want them.
