From what you have described, the bar width is not the issue; it's the pullback that is the issue. Pullback is influenced by bar height, so a taller bar will allow for more pullback.
Ape handlebars have a good range of rearward adjustment available, so the key is getting a bar that has enough height to gain the pullback you need, while still keeping your hands below your shoulders, but above your elbows.
Your stock bars are 31" wide. The Yaffe Classic Bagger Apes are 35.5" wide and the HD Batwing Mini-Ape's are 35" wide. The difference is about 2" on each side. Truth be told, I don't think you'd notice it AND I think you'd like it.
Oh, by the way, the Batwing Mini-Apes are available in Satin Black finish!
OK, say I went with 14" bars, I know the wiring would have to be lengthened but would the +4 clutch cable work and the stock brake line? I also want 1 1/4" bars so I can run the wires inside, now that I removed the stock protective covering.....This is turning into a nightmare of downtime and money.....Glad I'm not paying labor fees.....The HD bars cannot be wired internally I think, their only 1" bars...

Here's what Rich @ Forever Young MC just installed for my Yaffe 12" Classic Bagger Apes:
Magnum Sterling Chromite II - Brake Upper - 31" (stock is 18")
Magnum Sterling Chromite II - Brake Lower -
Magnum Sterling Chromite II - Clutch - 70 15/16" (stock is 62.7")
My Yaffe bars are 1" (diameter) and were wired internally. No problems.
All of my cables were routed EXACTLY as the stock cables are routed, at my request.
I just picked up my SG tonight and I LOVE the new setup! Forever Young MC did a great job on it.
