I just put on an Arlen Ness and compared to the Screaming Eagle kit I also have it seems identical. It will only stick out more by the thickness of the bracket that is removed. I doubt you would notice.

I just installed the Screamin Eagle AC on my '13 Roadglide Custom. Yes the bracket needs to be removed or the the backing plate will not bolt up to the throttle body. I was able to remove the bracket without lifting the tank. Just be patient it takes a little time to get the 2 allen bolts out, a long reach allen wrench makes the job easier, but I think the extra time it took me was equal to the time that it would have taken to unhook everything and lift the tank.

I just installed a SE air cleaner on my 2010 Ultra Classic along with a Cobra Fuel Management system. I lifted the fuel tank by loosening the front bolts and removing the three rear bolts. I used a 2X4 under the rear to hold the tank up. I didn’t have to unhook any hoses. I removed the bracket and installed two shorter stainless allen head bolts in the holes with a drop of blue Locktite. The original allen bolts were on very tight. I used a allen wrench and a box end wrench as leverage.

I used blue Locktite on all the fasteners.

I took my time (weather was nice and breezy) with the air cleaner and fuel management system and it took two hours for both including clean up.

The ness K&N filter is wider/deeper than the SE. I remember feeling it more on my RG I used to ride. Not a big deal, but it did stick out more.

I have slip ons. & VIEDs on mine. You might as well get the kit rather than filter only. Looks much better than stock set up. I spoke to Steve @ Nightrider & he recommended I run mine @ 60-75% on my adjustment screws.

The big sucker filter is deeper than the SE filter. It's not crazy bigger, but I used to feel it on my RG.

Good luck

Would you have had to raise the tank if you had long allen wrenches or an allen socket on a long extension?? Just curious I never had to do that with my Dyna I know different animal but damn just to get the stock air box off, really.
