i'm interested in this as well because i'm doing mine next week. the little bit of info i've been able to find looks like we should be able to access the alen bolts with the L shaped wrenches without removing the tank. at most might have to remove the bolt at the back of the tank and just lift it a little. Mine is a 2013 ultra classic
Lifting the tank us real easy. Pull fuse for fuel pump and start the bike. Once it runs out of fuel disconnect line. Its a quick connect fitting. Pull the rear bolt and lift the tank. I thought it was a pita till I did it. No big deal. Only takes couple minutes and saves a lot if aggravation..

Thanks. So that bracket definitely has to be gone. It looked like it did not line up properly on the manifold with it there.
Do you think lifting it just a little bit will give me enough access to get those things out?

Oh so run it to remove fuel in line? Not the whole tank, right??
I installed the Screaming Eagle Stage 1 air cleaner on my 2012 FLHTK last week, and yes the support bracket has to be removed. The two bolts have a 3/16 Allen head, and are a PIA to reach. I ended up just raising the rear of the tank a couple inches which made the job much easier.

Well that's what I ended up doing. Not that bad. I unbolted front & rear and lifted it enough for access to the two bolts.
I kind of like that the SE filter doesn't stick out as far as the Big Sucker.
