Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with the Center-mount Auxiliary Running and Brake Light, PN: 68000029.
I had one installed. The first heavy rain I rode in the plastic covering seemed to separate from the chrome. The protective covering peeled off in flecks of plastic. The only thing I ever used to clean it was soft cloth and water, no chrome polish.
Yes, both my buddy and I had the same problem. Check the reviews on the HD site for this product. The dealer just replaced both of ours and we are picking them up this week. Oddly this seems to happen after about 12-18months right out of the blue. I have washed my bike and ridden in the rain many to times before and then out of the blue on dT the thing flakes and peals.
Yep had the same problem first time I got caught in a rainstorm the chrome fell off.
I will be painting mine matt black to suit the guard!
Get charged top dollar and get Very cheap chrome on plastic, very disappointing.
Mines been fine through the summer, but it was the first HD part that I was completely disappointed in. I almost didn't install it, just cheap chromed plastic. Not at all what I expected. If it peels, I'll probably just toss it, it doesn't add much IMHO anyway.
