Default 2014 MPG Report

Got about 1700 miles on the new Limited. No changes needed or done on the motor. Been getting about 43 mpg rounded down. With the increased felt power this bike has, I was pretty impressed with the MPG, particularly on a new motor.

Folks thought I was crazy when I estimated 44-45 on freeway with Stage 1 (HO 103 - FLHX)

Cycle World just published a review of the new Street Glide Special. The article was fairly positive and upbeat, especially about all the design changes in the 2014s. Anyway, the gas mileage on their bike, over a period of days, was high/low/average 39/38/38. I would imagine too that they were getting on it quite a bit during the tests based on comments from the three riders that reported their experiences.

So sounds like your limited is doing pretty good. The speedometer accuracy on the SG Special was within 1 mph of actual speed, so that should go a long way toward a correct odometer reading and more realistic MPG claims.

Have you checked the accuracy of your speedometer and odometer versus a gps?

Higher altitude riding will increase fuel economy, but take away power. Since you don't list where you are, I am just guessing by the mountains in the background of your avatar that you may do most of your riding at high altitudes.

Also, if your speedometer is incorrect, then your odometer is also incorrect, usually reading more miles than you have actually traveled. This is certainly one of the contributors to some high-mileage claims that if calculated with actual gps miles, would be lower.

2014 Limited average 45 mpg, had a high of 50 mpg on Friday during a scenic Adirondack tour of 211 miles and 4.2 gal of premium, did a trip today at highway speeds 80+ and got about 42 mpg, runs very strong at highway speeds. Will be doing the second oil change to Synthetic this week and see if there is an increase.

Default '09 FLHTP fuel mileage

On my recent trip to Greece I was able to squeeze more then 400 km (248,5 miles) from one tank. That converts to about 44 mpg.
Bike is stock FLHTP with Screamin Eagle air filter, Hooker Tuned flow mufflers and Pover Vision.
I was riding two up, fully loaded with police tour-pak, around 2500 RPM in 6th gear, exactly half a speedo.

Greece used to be my favorite country ... before they had all the wildfires and got sunk in national debt.
