Just finished the swap of the Ambiant Air Gauge with the Oil Temp Gauge. Install wasn't bad at all. A little crampted quarters getting the air guage out and temp gauge in, but doable. Would highly recomend this mod. the part number 75324-05a has superseded number of 70900284........
Seems like a worth while upgrade to me since the ambient air temp is a waste of space. A definite thing on my to-do list when I am installing my GPS and garage door opener. Thought about the digital dipstick but was afraid some jackass might steal it.
Ya know, with the notorious inaccuracy of the OEM gauges, I would have some concerns...that said I would not be as concerned with the normal baseline temps as I would be if I saw an unexplained change, I reckon.

Thanks for posting. This is on my "to do" list. I have the digital dipstick but would much perfer knowing what oil temp. is doing real time so I can adjust to conditions if needed. The digital dipstick only provides of one point of reference, after the fact, that is relatively meaningless IMO.

Smart!!! Someone once posted they needed the ambient temp gauge to determine if ice could be forming on the road. Couldn't agree with you more. I wouldn't want to make that decision based on the accuracy of the OEM ambient temp gauge.....unless you used above/below 50 degrees as the decision parameter. I replaced my ambient temp gauge with an oil temp gauge 2 years ago. Monitor it for temp excursions only. And I'm always interested in how much impact the air temp has on the oil temp. Easy install and worth the investment IMHO. Someone suggested running the sensor wire under the tank vs down the frame. Good idea.

Seems like the Fomotion handlebar thermometers are much more accurate than the OEM air temp gauge...I'll probably be replacing the air temp with an oil temp gauge at some point, but it's well down the line...
