I just bought a LRS 16" recurve. I don't ride with a shield much in the summer but in the fall and spring it comes in handy. Didn't like the stock height so went with this. Glad I made the switch
Another LRS fan. Have one in dark tint that is great. Now using a Memphis Shades batwing fairing with an LRS Flat top shield (they no longer make this model).
Got a pair of those fork deflectors from H-D dealer.Really impressed how much buffeting they reduce. Now for a windshield.Long Ride Sheilds-what's the difference between the RK elite http://www.longrideshields.com/product_p/rke9413.htm
But if you have the engine guard the fork deflectors are a problem, correct?
No.......fit fine.Actually have 1/4-3/8" gap between at full turn.
My stock windshield is 18" from headlight cut out to top, which is a good height.I can duck in or sit straight and look over. However still getting a bit of buffeting from upper sides.Klockwerks mentions their 18"er. is from headlight cutout to "where the flare starts"-which I'm assuming is going to be a little tall (?).Maybe would need a 16 or 17 (?).I have no problem w/clear,but I'm seeing light-med.-dark tint available from the "big 3" mfg's. (LRS,MS,KW),and thinking some tint would look nice w/black pearl color I have.Any input?BTW-I'm new to windsheilds and that's why the dumb ?'s........bear w/me.
Just ordered a clearview for my '14 RK. Is there anything I should watch out for when transferring the brackets to the new windshield?
thanks,
Gary
Just take it slow and easy as the hardware has an adhesive which will stick to the stock shield. Carefully separate and you should be fine. I am guessing the newer bikes still have adhesive....
I agree with the fork Deflectors. I've been through this and am on my 3rd windshield. With the Klockwerks Flare it was better than it ever had been but I still had helmet buffeting at highway speeds. It immediately went away when I added the fork deflectors and mid-fork deflector. Problem solved and I can ride comfortably all day now.
I used the HD deflectors but there are aftermarket ones available that are probably priced lower. If you are interested, here is a detailed thread on the installation of the deflectors on my FLHP as posted on the Retired Police Bike forum. The install should be the same for a civilian Road King. http://www.retiredpolicebikes.com/in...526&Itemid=176
