I just installed the Soft Brake pedal on my 2014 Limited tonight. This is exactly what I was looking for. I kept catching my boot under the stock one and it was uncomfortable in use.
After reading about the Soft Brake pedal here, I ordered one up. Two days later it arrived and I installed it this evening. I got the slotted chrome version to match my slotted shift levers on the other side.
I found the instructions folded up in the box AFTER I did the install
Things I found just by winging it. Don't reuse the Stock o-rings, they mess with the feel of the pedal. (that is in the instructions). I think it's easier to just remove the entire right foot board/master cylinder mount (it's only three allen screws). You can then easily get at the clevis pin to remove the old pedal. Mount the new one up and bolt the entire assembly back on.
Attached are pictures of the Stock and Soft Brake pedals.
Yes what pedal is this, thats the one I want, but not sure what to order. I have the 1" forward floorboard pans, so I need to be more ahead.
OK just called softbrake, talked to Rick (208) 561 5031 awsome guy he set me up with a SB014S wide, this puts me lower, farther out and wider out. Also picked up a set of 3/4 inch spacers so my floorboards will be wider. Basacally he said that his standard break leaver on a different rotational angle off of the pivot point (being lower) automatically makes it look longer yet it is not. And he also mentioned if you have lowers (which I will be putting on) you can't go any farther ahead or it will hit so no +1 or +2.
I could be way out on this but I stopped myself from ordering an alternate brake pedal. I noticed at a red light with a fairly steep incline that I was able to rest my heel on the footboard and keep the ball of my foot on the brake with relative ease. If I had altered the angle so that my brake pedal lay further forward.....I would have to take my foot right off the footboard and leave it in free float on the brake (not too comfortable). That's just my 2cents worth.
Yes I looked it up, if your a new member you have to wait 5 days and put up 5 posts so the system on the forum site realizes your a person and not a spammer
I rode with that style brake pedal for 10 seasons (had a 99 with the more vertical pedal). When I switched to my 08 I complained that my foot kept missing the pedal on the 08, or barely catching it with my toe. point is, you get used to it.
Update, after my last post on October 30, I called SoftBrake and ordered their standard brake pedal for the 2014's. Received it on November 1, and installed it on the bike. Highly recommend SoftBrake, 164.95 including shipping. Much better riding position, not as cramped.
