Congrats on the New scoot, Harley improved the bikes with every year if I had the coin I would defiantly be looking at 2015 and up. For now I'm completely satisfied with my old dinosaur haven't stopped enjoying every minute/miles on my beach, since I already have the Vette.
Now I see where Harley got the idea for the vent...
Lol a 110 year old motorcycle company and you call a five year old bike a "dinosaur".
No kidding.....I've never understood the logic of people that buy something new and immediately tell everyone else how outdated anything but what they have is. The "dinosaur" frames have been around years and millions of miles and as far as I know, no one has spontaneously combusted due to it's "outdated" design. I'm hoping to ride my dinosaur into extinction or 100k miles (whichever comes first).
I test road a 14 Street Glide standard. Although it did seem to have more seat of the pants low end torque than my 10 Street glide, I did not find the ride or handling better? I did not find the heat any better than mine when it was stock. I also find that I like the 4 gauge dash on mine much better. The 14 was a nice bike but nothing stood out that would cause me to trade. The other thing I did not like on the new Street Glides is the pin striping. Doesn't look right to me!
Lmao i love my 2001 ultra,,, put 5000 miles on it july & august and never once felt the bike was unstable or a dinosour. i also rode two up pulling a trailer from michigan to sturgis and back without an issue......not a damn thing wrong with the old bikes, they will get you to where you want to go,!
I hear ya, riding a Harley, even old is better than nothing. If you ever jump on a 14 you will throw a for sale sign on it as fast as you can.

But like I said, 09 and up have the new frame, big tire so yes your 10 is probably not much different in handling. From what I have been reading, the 14 has an even longer {4"} frame along with 49mm front tubes to make it even better.
"most" every year they make changes/improvements for better or worse and some "new" guys like and some "old" guys don't....... gonna be that way forever I suppose.
For me I like about all bikes ,,,, year-make-country of origin for one reason or another. If you want fast or handling or cool or comfort or import or American or whatever youre after I say "TO EACH THEIR OWN" and wave as you drive by...........
Having just put new tires on my 08, I am enjoying that "new ride" sweet time when the tires perform as well as they ever will for the rest of their lives. That got me wondering how much of that new bike design goes toward the sweet ride and how much is just because the the tires, shocks, bearings and bushings are all new and tight and how much is acturally related to the: 1. New frame in 09 and, 2 the beefier fork in 14.
Have any of you guys had both a pre 09, and an 09 and newer and have gone through at least the first set of tires who can say whether the older and newer frames all start to be kind of "ratty" as the tires approach replacement OR does the improvement in the new frame hold up even with worn tires, aging bushings, and shocks? Everybody says that new tires "put the bike on rails" so is that great new bike feeling just the new tires or is it the frame and fork improvements?
