Dang! This is my first Harley after 57 years on the planet, most of which were spent riding (God forbid) Japanese bikes, and now apparently, along with the fraternal requirements, accouterments, tattoos, piercings, dew rags, downward waves and everything else, I've got to be careful to be sure and say "Limited" after the Ultra? Fortunately, I always do that anyway. (whew!)
Who knew riding a Harley (or do I have to include the "Davidson"?) would be so fraught with regimen?
It has kinda gotten a little funny with the names. I mean for forever and a day the word "Ultra" - to me - meant it was THE most top of the line bike in the touring line - one bike, the ultra, the elite pappy oh-hellz I gots money bike. Coveted and stuff ya know.
Now it's on a bunch of bikes and can get confusing when you just say Ultra and nothing else. I understand the reasoning of the addition of the RG "Ultra" (diff bike kinda) but now with the Classic or Limited... yeah strange-ish. Like saying I ride an Ultra but its just the poor Awesome version (Classic) or I ride an Ultra but its the Ultra-Awesome version! (Limited). And lets not forget the CVO Ultra Limited. Which is like saying, I ride an Ultra-Awesome-Big-Money-Ultra-I-paid-more-for-this-than-it-cost-to-put-a-kid-through-college-Ultra-cause-i-can-Ultra-yayyyyyyyy-for-me!-Ultra.
+3 I am loving my limited, when it comes down to it, it was still born an ultra but with more bells and whistles, dont matter ALL of the touring line is a BAD AZZ ride. LOVIN IT!!!!!! I cant wait to get more miles n her!!
Over use of a term that means "Elite" or Special makes all of them not Special... or something. Whatever. Kinda reminds me of Chevy or whoever putting "SS" on everything. Man I have an SS. It's a cavalier SS! Awesome... not.
I dunno, there was only one Ultra man and he was awesome. Well for about 3 minutes and then he had to recharge. Just sayin
An Ultra is an Ultra. When Someone that's been riding for more than a few years refers to an Ultra, they're taking about the Ultra Classic Electra Glide. For the last couple of decades there was only one ultra. The limited trim package has only been around for a few years. They should have called it the Ultra Ultra!
