Has anyone heard of the heat shield is covered under ESP or not?
My front cylinder heat shield mounting tab broke. I took the shield off to stop it annoying me, the metal strap was OK but the welds that hold the bracket that the strap goes through to the shield has broken completely off.
First dealer said it's not covered but at $200+ for a replacement, I am not inclined to believe them yet.
Thanks for the offer, I really do appreciate it. but...
I just found and purchased a new set on Ebay for the same price as my $50 deductible would have been at the dealer. Plus it's a full set not just the one I need. I have to wait a bit longer to get it but it's only a heat shield, I can ride without it until it arrives.
I still want to know if they are covered or not under ESP just out of principal.

Glad you found it! I would have made the same deal just to get them out of my garage though...

reading the coverages, it doesn't mention exhaust. but in the section entitled 'what is not covered', it says exhaust system rust out or discoloration.
so they don't say that it is covered, but then again, they don't say that it isn't. clear things up?
I just went thru this with my dealer.
The right rear tab spot weld broke on mine.Took the bike in for that and a miss-fire under the ESP.
Was told that the heat shield should be covered but finally the ESP company said the exhaust system IS NOT COVERED.
The heat shield would have been $150 plus labor but the SW was able to replace it by saying it was for a rental bike.
