Default Exhaust question....probably stupid...

I put new exhaust, VH slip ons last night, afterwards when I fired it up and was enjoying the sound, I noticed the pipe on the right side had more and hotter exhaust, I kinda figured this was because of the crossover pipe....but just wanted to confirm...its an 06 street glide, also put a Kury velocity stack as well...Thanks..

You figured correctly.

Exhaust gases will take the path of least resistance.
At idle you notice it more since that right pipe is probably handling most of the exhaust flow needed just fine.
As you increase the output, more of the exhaust gas will be forced through to the other side.

On a basically stock engine, that exhaust system will handle it just fine.
As you go up in performance, then changes need to be made to the exhaust system to accommodate the increased exhaust flow.

The two mufflers are actually different, although they look the same on the outside, which takes account of the fact they handle different levels of flow.

And....H-D conveniently made sure there is an impediment to flow in the rear head pipe where the 'Y' pipe connects. The cross over pipe actually extends into the rear cylinder pipe to help force the exhaust down into the right side cat/muffler.
If you want even better flow install a Fulsac TD conversion. You'll be surprised at the improvement in power.

Stock bikes will run hotter in general too.

Example, CFR's will discolor on one side more than the other if put on stock rides.

Congrats on the new pipes too. That's always a great one to get done.

I run a vance and hines powerdual headers and 4inch rinehart slip ons. They are on a 2012 sg the got 1 1/4 riding season on them they are black and i have noticed my right slipon is loosin its coating. Gonna call rinehart after riding season to get replaced. But im assuming this is due to more heat on the rigjt side by the crossover as well. But hopefully it gets replaced and i have no issues. If thats not the case then to jet hott it goes.
