Doesn't help you, but in WI most stations have non-ethanol premium, because boaters need it. Sometimes you have to look around. At our local 12 pump station, only 2 pumps have non-ethanol.
I run pure gas when ever it is avail. better power and more mpg and stores better. There is and app avail for smartphones you can download from www.puregas.org. that you can take with you and locate by state who has pure gas in the area, this app is updated daily.
I live in small city (less the 25,000) and there are three stations here that have non-ethanol regular. One is less than a block, the second is about 4 miles away, and the last one is on the other side of town. I asked my mechanic which would be better non-ethanol regular or premium with ethanol, he told me to use non-ethanol whenever available. He also stated that if I didn't feel comfortable using just regular to use an octane boost with it. So I, almost exclusively, use non-ethanol regular with an octane booster, and about every 3 or 4 tanks I use seafoam. Sometimes instead of seafoam I use that Marvel's. I should be good to go. I'm not a gear head by any means, if I'm doing something wrong or it could be done better, let me know.
Your question mixes apples and oranges. Sea Foam and other additives are for cleaning various deposits left over from the metering and combustion process. Whether a given fuel has the additives to do the same thing does not depend on whether it is pure gas or corn mix. Law requires a minimum amount of scavenging additives but some refiners/companies add additional amounts and types which are supposed to do a better, more thorough job of keeping injectors, intake valves, and combustion chambers clean. The current standard is the BMW 100,000 mile certification for keeping things clean for the long term.
A web site: toptiergas.com explains this and lists retail outlets which deliver the high detergent fuel. Both pure gas and con mix can have the "top tier" designation if they have the additive package to qualify. Ethanol presents its own problems with fuel system components and gaskets so even the top tier designation doesn't change that. The last time I checked, Valero was NOT on the list of top tier outlets but the advantages of pure gas outweigh that "shortcoming". An occasional Sea Foam treatment or some other concentrated cleaner can take care of any residue build up caused by a little less detergent additive from the pump as opposed to the nuisance and expense of having to replace fuel lines, filters, O rings and even gas tanks more frequently.
We are in the same boat, your not going to find any pure gas in NVA, I dont live far from you, the only place to find pure gas around is the northern neck and south west from me about 1 hour, or a marina or race track. I use ethanol treatment in my bike, it is a 99 and has a carb so ethanol is even worse for me.
Not sure if you or jsmcray have any Southern States dealer in your area but they also carry real gas.
I live near the Southern States in Culpeper VA, they sell corn there, is off of 29, it seems you have to go to the Eastern shore or West of 81 or SW, I just down loaded the app for Pure Gas, it says there is a station near Remington that I drive by daily going to work, I will have to check on it.
