Default IMC Headsets

I'm looking at getting headsets for my wife and I to use on our 2003 Ultra. The choice for hers is easy - she wears a 3/4 helmet.

I wear a half helmet 100% of the time. There are two choices, one has pockets that appear to Velcro into the helmet straps and the other has an arm that goes around the back of the neck.

Anyone use one or both of these? Is there a difference in sound quality or comfort? I assume the ones that go into pockets attached to the helmet would be more comfortable?

J&M are out of the budget (we're putting a Mustang seat on as well). Any other input would be appreciated.

I like the ones that I can wear with or without a helmet, since I ride without a helmet at times, and ride solo with a helmet at times and don't want to have to deal with taking the headset on and off the helmet...easier to put on the headset then put on the helmet. Wife had the Harley super-duper deluxe special POS headset in her helmet until she saw mine, now she does the same thing as I do, even though she always wears a helmet, we don't always want to use the intercom.

We also have 4 scalarider Bluetooth units that we use when riding with friends where we can all talk.

I attached the ear pieces and mic from the headset that came with my Limited to my half helmet. I also have the set where the arm goes around the neck that I have worn both with a helmet and without. It works either way but for me it can get uncomfortable around the ears after a while because the ear piece and sunglasses are on the ears.

I am curious about the IMC behind the head set too, interested to hear about them from folks that have used them...

I have the over the ear set-up you are asking
about and like it for sure. I wear a half helmet
and it works great for me, sound is good and it
is plenty comfortable for me.

I have the headset that you wear around the back of your head. The sound quality is great. My only dislike is that after a full day of riding....8 hrs + the headsets starts to bother my ears from being pressed against my head by my helmet. I either shift the position just a little or loosen my helmet strap a little.

I have heard some say that they experience problems with rider to passenger communication when one is a HD and the other is IMC.

I have the IMC one and love it, I only use it on group rides for the CB but have used it all day with no problems , if you have your helmet strap real tight it might bother you but I don't have any problems

I believe IMC makes the HD headsets so they should work well together. I have the ones that came with the bikes and the behind the neck type. The behind the neck types aggravate my ears after a few hours. I am going to try the pocket style.

IMC does make the HD headsets.
I have the ones you wear behind your ears.
They're fine for the most part but the tiny amount of pressure behind your ears becomes annoying on long rides. I still use them when I need them. I got used to the way they feel and they work well.
