+1 for the Trucklites. You can get away with less, but if you do much night riding, you'll absolutely fall in love with them.

I was ready to spend the dough on the TL but if I can get away cheaper I am for that as well...
I went for a cheaper route and couldn't be happier... Got a hella e-code headlamp and 80w100w off road bulb for about $60 from rally lights.com

Tried HID, kept burning out bulbs. Also tried e code head lite with 90/100 bulb. The TL phase 7 blows them out of the water. I'm not sorry I paid Eastern Performance $195 for the LED, I think I will now get the spot lites as well.

I used the Silverstars for a long time, much better than stock bulbs. On my road glide I used the Harley daymakers, holy cow what a night and day difference they really lit the road up great. On my new Street Glide I went with the Trucklite phase 7, a lot better than the Silverstars but not as good as the daymakers. Eastern Performance had the Phase 7's on sale for under $200 which is a damn good price for them.

yes that is the company out of Maryland that sells on ebay. I might go ahead with the TL and be done with it due to riding a fair share at night.

Maybe said earlier in this post.
Although the TL will need aux. lights to fill in the dark spots and the combo is more expensive, its worth it.
I found the brighter bulbs burnt out quicker and unexpectedly, requiring me to carry a spare which usually got broken in the bag.
