I went thru the same decision-making process and went with the Trucklite - headlight and passing lamps combo. Very pleased, and very much better nighttime visibility. Don't need to deal with wiring BS or (potentially) unreliable ballast configs/etc. One thing to be aware of is that the TL setup works great with the passing lamps to better illuminate roadsides, but with just a HL you may notice less light illuminating the sides when you head thru twisties. YMMV.

Gotcha. I am running a SG with single light and saw some of those kits that requires running extra wires and whatnot. Definately a drawback to a plug and play set up like the trucklite.
I thought about running some crashbar mounted lights eventually to help out at night.
It's unbelievable how much better night visibility is with the TL-7. The only draw back I have found with these and possibly any LED for that matter, is fog. It's hard enough to see in the stuff anyway but the LED's really make it harder to see thru it IMO. Not a big enough issue to make me wanna take my TL-7's out tho.
Ditto on TL including passing lamps. Adjusted passing lamps a hair up and out....fine in turns. Had HD fog lamps already....together no visibility issues. Do feel bad at times, on coming traffic seem very annoyed....at least they see me. BTW: foggy morning a great time to adjust beams!
I'm simply running a 90/100 lamp in all 3 of my bikes, that I got from J&P Cycles for $14.99, and these things seem to last for years. You'd be surprised at how much light these things throw down the road out of a stock bucket.
