update - LED light solution for Tour-Pak
I think the LEDs would look cool under the clear lens rather then a funky red bulb that may burn out on the road .
BTW, I swapped to the LEDS not for their brightnes (my 3rd LED breaklite is WAY bright and flashes) but so I never have to worry about a blown bulb on the road again and less power draw on the electrical system. That, and I like to do different things.
Can these be done without cutting and splicing wires? I would like a plug in type of installation. I dont like splicing wires, not a good practice for me.
You can make the very same pig-tail from a couple of old bulbs that fit the tail lamp bulb holders for the Tour-pac. All that you have to do is smash out the glass bulb with out breaking the brass base and its glass bottom with the contacts.
Ground is the brass side of the barrel part of the base. And then you have to determine which mode you want your LED to be wired and attach that to the remaining of the two "dot" terminals with some soldering.
I know if it was all that easy someone else would be doing it. I just may! That would keep from having to drill another hole in the back of the tour pac lamp assey. And eleminate splicing with those cheap blue (or red) line splices that open the wiring insulation up to future corrosion, and loose connections.

I guess the LEDS would give a more pronounced lite thru clear lens. If I had to make a judgment call I'd say the LEDs aren't any brighter. Heres a a pic I took with one side the LEDs and the old red lens. You tell me.

I agree with you, I alsothink the brightest is your light bar brake light!
Thanks
actually Keith was great talking to a non electrical guy, walked me thru everything and now I am running all lights and shining like new penny
I would recommend this light kit to anyone with a Ultra who is afraid of getting hit in the rear
Bushy
Tapping in to the running/brake lights shoud be simple, as the bike already has the HD brake/run module for the tour pack lights. Where did you guys tap into the turnsignal wires?
I have a quick detach on the tour pack, so the smart thing would probably be to use quick disconnects on the turnsignal wires, but honestly, I cannot imagine myself ever removing the tour pack.
