Default DD7 in!

DD7 installed
Neutral is back!! AND Click click click!!
Owner of the dealership really rides, test rode it and said"Thats nice".
Cruise works in 7th only.
I have a TTS tuner and will play with the gearing to see if i can get it to work in other gears.
Very happy with this upgrade.

I heard that 1st is really tight with that tranny, what I mean is that it whines out really quick, is that true or do you get more off the mark?

As someone who has always added gearing to motor work.
You are missing out listening to others talk about a short first gear.
This tranny rocks and first gear is not a problem. WAY better.

This trans and just a stage one upgrade would impress most people.

I'm running the 7 with a stage 1 also. I did the manual adjuster an the Baker throwout bearing. Also have a Baker Bully bk wrinkle primary over waiting to go on with Headwork and cam this winter.

Running the 7-speed with a big-bore motor. Yes, 1st winds out too quick. With forward controls, no time to shift before redline. Start in 2nd gear which works well.

This interested me until I found out about the cruise issue. I like the idea of a really low 1st gear for take offs.

I'm envious of the reputation Baker has for the way their transmissions engage gear and neutral, with such reliability and precision. But I must admit I struggle to understand the need for seven gears. We have two cars with 7-speed autos and neither of them spend more than a second or two in first. On a bike I associate lots of gears with a narrow power band, not the wide range of torque a well tuned Harley has. I can see the attraction of a DD6, but wow the price (especially here in the UK)!

I live in NYC. the stock trans in 1st and 2nd gear aren't suited to city riding. using the DD7 allows me to have the lower first 2 gears and keep the original overdrive ratio so i can cruise the interstate at 80 or 85 which would be a little buzzy using a 30 tooth pulley.

"so youre basically running a 6 speed?"

Well, if I am racing, I normally start in 2nd and finish in 4th or 5th, so using less than 6 gears. On the road, use all 7 gears. Geez.
