To avoid scratches and swirls, NEVER dry wipe paint. Use a microfiber towel and a mist detailer like Mothers, Maguires, Wizards, etc. If you don't use a detailer product, just dampen a microfiber tower in water or use a spray bottle filled with water. Some people use Windex. This works well, but it strips wax.

I wonder if 'pledge' would be good. I used to use it on my bikes several years ago but I never used it on a clear coat paint. somewhere I read that the Pledge Johnson company recommends NOT using on clearcoat. Anyone know.

Lots of folks use Pledge. It works well. I don't use it because mist detailers work better. I wasn't aware of any risk to clear coat. But this adds another reason to use products designed for paint, not wood furniture.

Pledge is cheap crap made for finished wood. Would you put Wallmart brand oil in your bike? Treat your machine with LOVE. Plenty of advice in the detailers section.

I use a California Duster to remove loose dust first, then I use Pledge with a micro-fiber cloth... the normal formula used to be better than it is now, they changed it recently, but I have found that the new Orange Pledge works better now. Been using it for many years with awesome results, so I can attest that it works great.

Like others have said, a good quick detailer will do the trick. I have been partial to Honda's spray polish. My dealer even uses it to detail their new bikes. I pay about $6 a can at the dealer, and a little goes a long way.

California duster then Eagle 1 Nanowax. I use it on everything I own, including my vintage Fender & Gibson guitars.
