Default Replacing Starter

I'm replacing my starter on my 2001 EGC. Seems pretty straight forward. Disconnect battery cable, remove outer primary cover, remove starter gear, remove starter and install new starter, replace starter gear, torq to spec, makes sure bolt is secured. Tighten up starter. Test fire the thing. And button up.

Anything I missed?

I've never changed a starter but I've read that part about removing the battery cables first is VERY important.

That sounds about right, having done mine a few weeks ago. I suggest you remove the battery from the bike, to be on the safe side!

Thats about it but at least on mine...A 2009 there is a metal dowel that you could loose if your not careful when removing and make sure it's on/in there when replacing
