Screaming Eagle Ventilator?
Wrong...that's the way it used to be, but now they both need oil. It's the exact same filter, made by K & N.
NOTES
This is a dry air filter. Do not apply oil to the filter element.
Whenever the air cleaner cover is installed, apply Loctite 243
- Blue to the air cleaner cover screw (A).
You will note it says this is a DRY filter so I'm not oiling this one. Maybe the K&N replacement.

I agree this is very confusing.
A couple months ago, I went to replace the filter in my Ventilator. I noticed that Amazon had the exact same filter, but it had K&N's part # on it (HD-0910). I also noticed that this was a filter that required oil.
I pulled out the instruction sheet for my 1.5 year old Ventilator and it said "do not oil".
I called K & N to ask them about it, and they said originally, Harley didn't want anyone to oil them because they were afraid people would "over oil" and cause problems. Personally, I think it was because Harley wanted you to buy a new filter from them.
They come oiled when you buy the Ventilator kit (that's the Pink color).
If you look in the new 2014 P & A book, the part # for the filter from Harley is 29400022A. All the SE Air Filter elements are made by K & N. At the top of the page (437) it states that the filters are "washable and rechargeable" and you are to use K & N's Air Filter Care Products to clean and return the filter to it's Red color when it turns Grey.
It's the oil that filters the dirt.
