Has anyone that added the XM module bought the weather subscription and if so does our 6.5 infotainment system support the weather radar part?
Looked on the XM site and it wasn't any help nor was the support line.
I have the weather radar installed. Its great when riding in questionable conditions. You can see rain system ahead and avoid. Neat gadget when traveling.
To Get the "Specialty Services" from SeriusXM, you will need to call a different telephone number/department to get the services activated. It is not called "Nav/Traffic" like it was on the Zumo 665. My '14 Limited Boombox 6.5GT radio does work fine but as somebody else already stated, the music channels and the "Specialty Services" are separate subscriptions and have to be setup & activated with different departments. The Nav/Traffic does not work on the Boombox, Only the "Specialty Services" will work on the Boombox. This Service Includes: 1. Traffic, 2. Fuel Prices, 3. Weather, and 4. Weather Forecast. You can display the Weather Radar overlay on the Map Screen and it will show weather fronts if you desire. The Radar doesn't show motion as it did on the Zumo though but only shows the latest image. The Traffic Information is a Lot Better on the Boombox and will give you a Voice message/prompt if there is a problem on a route if you are using the GPS for navigation. Call this number for the SeriusXM 1-800-985-9200 and you will need the Radio ESN as well as your Account information. I also believe that I Did Get the Specialty Services 90 day trial along with the Music Channels. I have had my bike for 2 months and other than the Clutch Recall I am very pleased with it. --- Good Luck
i have the weather service through my zumo 665 also. i really like it as it alerts you normally well in advance to weather in the area or nearby. it even suggests that some of the area roads might be wet. as mentioned above, it does move through past history showing the direction of the aproaching rain which i think is a great feature. even if it doesn't move, its worth the extra $$ especially if you ride a lot. jmho
