Now it makes sense that the instructions are different. That's kinda a big mistake on HD's part considering it is included in a kit for 08 and later.

the abs spacer is on the same side as the axle nut (left). if you are tightening the nut, it will spin the axle and abs spacer clockwise and could potentially damage the abs wiring. thats why the manual has you insert a phillips screwdriver in the hole on the right side of the axle so that you can hold it in place while you torque it down.
