My monthly budget is tight but still room for a new ride. I have been looking at the 2014 Street Glide Standard basic black priced around $21700 out the door.
This ride would need the true dual exhaust, some sort of fuel pack and free flowing air cleaner, to keep the smile on my face, pumping the cost another 2K or so.
On the other hand I have tracked down a 2013 SG, black with true dual exhaust, free flowing air cleaner and V/H fuel pack and 1800 miles on the clock. The owner is looking at 18K, maybe flexible ...?
I have read the specs on both machines, is the price difference worth the $..

And as for my personally, I traded a 2012 SG. Decatted, PC5,ventilator, stout mufflers..
I've had only swapped over the mufflers to the 14 and seat of the pants much better pull that the 12' was. Always wanted to change the wheels and go to aggitators..That would have cost another $3k. Wanted CVO front fender.. For what I got for the 12' on trade, got newer wheels(which is the 19" front), the fender, more power, then the new front end, premium ride rear shocks, New bags. New tunes with GPS... I just couldn't see putting more money into the 12'...
And to ad the 14' top end doesn't sound like its coming apart..

Buy the 2014 and ride it stock for the time being! Don't be so quick to start changing stuff, if you really do have a tight budget. You may well find you change your mind on what you want to do with it, or the order you do them. Much better an SG in the hand, than one in your mind.....
I did a lot of research over the last few months waiting for an accident settlement. Read most of the opinions on here and elsewhere on buying a 14 or something older. With all of the additions (front suspension, better cam, better intake, new bags, not to mention the new sound system/head unit, etc. etc.), I went with a 2014. The accidents settlement enabled me to get the Special but I still would have gone for a 14 over and older one regardless. 99% of the people who have ridden both say there's a noticeable, positive difference in the 14's.
