I haven't seen many threads about adjustment and would like to compare settings, I have talked to race tech several times and they have had me try different settings and I am starting to get tired of tearing the front apart.
I have had mine for two seasons and have changed the oil several times and brand and the level, now I am changing to a CCE top tree. And I am adjusting again what are you that have this set up running adjustment wise maybe we can all get a better grip on settings to save from tearing it apart to get closer to the right combo from the beginning. I know we are not the same but I think we all want the same results. A sticky non diving front end.
The first season I was fine after having too light oil I replaced with screaming eagle heavy and was good. Maybe I just want more, this year I replaced the oil and have been trying to get it set right. I pulled it apart this weekend and noticed one spring is 3 mm shorter than the other I will check with race tech when the work week starts, I have a heavy road king with fairing I weigh 170, I was running
140 mm oil level
HD screaming eagle heavy oil
2 turns on the yellow spring
10 mm above for preload
1.0 spring
Too much brake dive and loud klunk on hard bumps overall good ride other wise, I am thinking of adding a turn on the gold emulator and add some preload to the spring and try 130 mm oil level, and I am going to try a different oil that race tech suggested maxima 15
What works for you I want to get rid of the klunk and the brake dive
Hi Shakrr, I just put in a CCE triple and love it. It does nothing for the diving front end but the tracking is fantastic! You will love it. I installed Progressive mono shocks as well. The ride just keeps getting better as mikes pike up. Enjoy!
I have Emulators in my Sporty and don't detect any benefit from them to be frank. An alternative are Intiminators, which HDF member fabrik8r hand tunes for us, so I am using them in my CCE fork conversion! I have much better expectations of a good ride than the Emulators.
