Have the dealer do it. They will carry the bike's warranty. I have them on my RG and love them. The Harley units are nice now. The older ones used to crap out early.
I have had them on the last three bikes, no issues.

Yes ...the instructions suck. Take your time and think things thru. I am fortunate enough to have a son that's a whiz at all things mechanicle.

THIS is what the damn instructions should look like.

The only thing Im not following is how the throttle side gets power? From the small TGS connection? Is there a small hole in the bottom of the bars somewhere for the wires to be fed through? Assuming the newer bikes (2010+) still use this cig lighter power method, no easy connections have been left by HD to simply plug into?

I installed a similar HD set on my 2014 Ultra a few weeks ago. Throw the directions away. There is a slot on the front of the handlebars that is difficult to access. The wire harness from the Throttle Sensor exits this slot. If you follow this harness , there is a pigtail branching off it which supplies power for the heated handgrip on the throttle side. On mine, the throttle harness was pushed across the handlebar slot which blocked the left side of the handlebar and made it impossible to feed the left grip wire through. I had to remove the inner fairing, ignition switch and cover to move the harness out of the way.

The actual wiring is pretty straightforward. Fish the left grip wire thru the bars out the slot and connect to the right side pigtail. The instructions should show removing the rubber cap on the throttle sensor and connecting up that handgrip. I ran the power wires under the tank and back to the battery to an optional accessory harness that I bought.

Thje wiring is the easy part..everything else took the time. The new heated grips work really well. Good luck, AL

to my knowledge 10 and up bikes include the wiring harness in the fairing for the heated grips. You are basically feeding power to the left handlebar where the controller is. From the left, you are then feeding power to the right handlebar hence the small connector

Yes the bars have a hole in the center atop of the triple tree
